After getting together in the first game of the 2018 College World Series, North Carolina and Oregon State met again on Wednesday night in an elimination game. This time it was Oregon State’s turn to get the win as their bats came alive in the 9th inning for the 11-6 victory.
The Beavers started things off in the first inning with a 2-run homer and extended their lead to 3-0 in the 3rd inning until North Carolina rallied for 3 runs of their own to tie it.
North Carolina, then with momentum, took the lead in the fifth inning and extended their lead in the sixth, 6-3. It seemed like Oregon State was going to be heading home.
However, Oregon State had their bats come alive in the 8th inning coming from behind with a four run inning to take back the lead 7-6. As rain started coming back into the picture, the Beavers kept their momentum going in the ninth, not allowing North Carolina to slow them down scoring four more runs, and shut the door on the Tar Heels for the victory.
