Today in the Valley: February 9, 2011

Illinois State (11-13, 3-10) vs. Indiana State (12-12, 7-6)

Redbird Arena; Normal, Ill.

7:00 CST

Illinois State ran into a red-hot Wichita State team over the weekend, and were not treated very nicely.  The Shockers controlled the entire game in handing the Redbirds yet another MVC loss with the final reading 57-74 WSU.  The Redbirds may have their hands full again tonight, depending on which ISU team shows up.

The Sycamores have been a bit of an up and down team this season, beating the likes of Creighton and Missouri State and taking WSU into triple overtime.  However, they have been less than impressive as of late, with their most recent loss to MSU over the weekend.  This team has shown that they can play with anyone in the league, and they need to take care of business against the bottom half, starting tonight.

Missouri State (18-6, 10-3) vs. Bradley (8-16, 2-11)

JQH Arena; Springfield, MO

7:00 CST  TV: FSN

Andrew Warren has been scoring a bunch of points all year long, it has just usually been in a losing effort until recently.  With two wins in a row, the Braves now have two wins in the conference.  Most recently, Warren lead the way with 23 points to help the Braves knock of Southern Illinois.  They will hit the road for a very tough contest tonight in Springfield.

The Bears will be ready for the Braves and Coach Martin will not take them lightly.  Thanks to teams like Creighton, coaches know that you can not sleep on a team like Bradley, because they will bite you in the butt.  With the loss last night by Wichita, the Bears will try to take advantage of the opportunity to creep closer to that coveted first place spot.
