Visitor Alert: 2015 Cody Schwartz

Friday opens what could be a special season for the Creighton Bluejays. The Jays quick off their season against the mid-major powerhouse North Texas Mean Green. UNT boasts one of the better rosters the Jays will face all year, but I’ll let the other experts prime you for the game.

Creighton expects a near sellout of the Century Link Center, which provides the coaching staff a great opportunity to showcase one of the more impressive assets of Creighton University, the fanbase.

Creighton will host 2014 verbal commitment Ezra Talbert as well as 2015 target Cody Schwartz (left).

Schwartz is seen as one of the top forwards in the midwest. He had a fantastic summer, starring for the Wisconsin Blizzard in a number of high profile tournaments. Cody was named the MVP of the 2012 15U division of NY2LA Invitational, a tournament that host some of the top AAU teams in the nation. His play opened the eyes of many coaches, eventually earning him offers from Northern Iowa, Wisconsin-Green Bay, Toledo as well as Creighton. Creighton was the first to offer. He has also caught the eye of Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa State. The Cyclones have hosted him in Ames a few times already, and the Badgers have kept in contact.

Having watched all the video out there on Schwartz he reminds me of a combination between Jarrod Uthoff and the Koch family at UNI. At 6’8” he can bang around down low, yet has the finesse and athleticism to get out and run. He has a nice shooting stroke and is a good passer for his size.
