Creighton Bluejays Fantasy Men’s Basketball: the All-Time Starting Five

Millions of American’s play some type of fantasy football, basketball, or baseball. Hours of preparation are put into selecting the team. Some leagues have a standard draft (people draft in order) or auction. In an auction league, a team is given a set dollar limit to bid and spend on players. This type of draft creates problems for many people. Do you spend all of your money on top of the line players and fill the rest of your roster with cheap options? Or do you take middle of the line players across the board at each position?

On Tuesday, Creighton fan Joe Johns tweeted out a men’s basketball fantasy line-up. Who would you select at each position? In the proposed line-up, there are 5 players, 5 positions, with one catch, there was a salary cap of $15. You cannot spend more than that cap. Each position had an assigned value of $1 to $5. What would be the ultimate line-up?

It did not take long for Twitter followers to respond.

Here are the options at each position!

Let’s see what people had to say!

Some went with recent players:

While it does say you can’t spend more than $15, it doesn’t say which positions the players must be selected (McDermott and Korver are both listed at PF):

Who needs $15 when it can be done with $13 or $14:

Remember, the salary cap is $15:

McDermott (5), Lawson (1), Funk (5), Gibbs (1), Sears (5) = $17

Not every CU legend could make the list.  Who was left out?

Phoenix Sun Anthony Tolliver

Bluejay color commentator and local radio host Nick Bahe

I’ll throw one more in the mix, how about Josh Jones!

The next BIG question is, who’s going to coach this team?  Which 5 coaches do you select?  What dollar amount is assigned to each?

Greg McDermott
Dana Altman
Tony Barone
Tom Apke
Eddie Sutton
Red McManus
Eddie Hickey
Arthur Schabinger
Another?

Scratching your head?  It’s a trick question!  Pick whoever you want!  Coaches don’t have salary limits!  Just ask Coach K, Nick Saban, John Calipari, or Phil Jackson!

Leading selection appears to be Doug McDermott followed by Antoine Young, Grant Gibbs, and Nate Funk.
