Breaking Down the Creighton Team Camp Attendees

Its mid-June which means one thing in Omaha: Creighton Basketball Camp. With players from Iowa, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Missouri, Kansas, Arkansas, Texas, Massachusetts, Nevada, and South Dakota, this promises to be the most talented camp in the state of Nebraska. At White & Blue Review, we are striving to provide the most complete coverage of the potential future Bluejays.  Here is a breakdown of several of the participants in this year’s camp.

Class of 2013

Toby Hegner

6’10’’ – F – Pine River, Wisconsin – Wisconsin Playmakers 17U

What’s left to say about Toby? He is a tremendous talent, someone who can score in the post with as much ease as he can on the arc. Toby runs the floor well, and gets easy baskets after securing good position on his defender. Sound familiar, Creighton fans? He is also an excellent student, earning high honors at Berlin High School. One to watch!

Ted Friedman

6’8’’ – F – Ankeny, Iowa – Kingdom Hoops 17U

Friedman is growing a reputation nationally as a dominant post player with an excellent outside game. Friedman led his high school to a semifinal finish in this year’s Iowa state tournament. What separates Friedman from other posts in the 2013 class is his ability to switch from a finesse big to a power-player down low. Friedman has a solid build, shies down from no challenge, and possesses the passion and strength that can dominate opponents.

Jeremy Morgan

6’6’’ – G – Iowa City, Iowa – Iowa Barnstormers 17U

Morgan is the prototype of a successful wing player. He is long, athletic, skilled with the ball and deadly from mid-range. Morgan is a matchup nightmare as he has the length of a forward but the handles of a guard. He uses this to his advantage, using his size when being guarded by a smaller player and taking the bigger ones off the dribble. Morgan was also named to the Iowa state all-tournament team after logging 26 points and 6 rebounds in a dominating performance in the final.

Andrew Chrabascz

6’6’’ – F – Ashburnham, Massachusetts – BABC

Chrabascz is a warrior. He possess a high motor and never takes a play off. He does the little things as a big guy to lead his team to victory. He provides leadership for each team he competes with and is a difficult force down low. Andrew is a great student!

Tory Miller

6’8’’- F – Lee’s Summit – KC Run GMC 17U

Miller is one of the best prospects in the 2013 class, controlling the paint on both ends of the floor. He is a smooth passer out of the post and runs the floor well. He is successful in backing down opponents, sealing off multiple defenders that creates lanes for himself or his teammates to fill. A dominant player in this class.

Steven Spieth

6’5’’ – G/F – Dallas, Texas – Dallas Triumph

Spieth is an incredibly well-rounded basketball player who plays with a high IQ and sees plays on the floor before they develop. Spieth has excellent size for someone who likes to control the tempo of the game and run the offense. He sets up teammates, and always seems to be on the right end of the 50/50 plays. Every game Spieth has the ability to post a triple-double. He can score, dish and out-rebound his opposing number.

Zach Hanson

6’8’’ – F – Pierre, South Dakota – South Dakota Schooler

Hanson is a versatile four who can stretch the defense as well as bang down in the low post. Hanson has unbelievable feel for the game, and when coupled with his great hands, he is a guard’s dream. He transitions from defense to offense as fast as any guard, gets in good position, and can catch any pass intended for him.

Darian Harris

6’6’’ – G/F – Springdale, Arkansas – Arkansas Wings

Harris is an explosive wing who can score with the best of them. He averaged 17 points, 7 assists and 10 rebounds in the Arkansas state tournament, on his way to being named to All-State. Harris is an athlete who gets to the rim with ease. Harris has grown from 6’2’’ his sophomore year to his current height of 6’6’’.

Jake Flaggert

6’5’’ – G/F – Lucas, Texas – Dallas Triumph

Flaggert is a bouncy wing with a nose for the rim. His game translates well to a fast moving offense which likes to get up and down. He is able to pull back and hit the open mid-range jumper if the lane closes. Flaggert is very active around on the offense glass as well.

Trey Kennedy

6’1’’ – G – Las Vegas Nevada – Marcus Banks Hard to Guard

Kennedy shoots the ball at a high percentage and does not fear taking the ball to the rim. He is sneaky quick and slippery in the paint. He works well coming off screens, and can create his own shot. Kennedy has been able to thrive while playing alongside some of the nation’s top high school talent at Bishop Gorman high school.

Adam Beyer

6’5’’ – G – De Pere, Wisconsin – Green Bay Gunners

Beyer plays the point, and uses his height to see over small opponents and into lanes. He plays with good basketball instincts.

Ben Oberfeld

6’9’’ – F – Eagan, Minnesota – Minnesota Fury

Oberfeld is a lunch-pail type big with good work ethic on and off the court. Oberfeld prides himself on his defensive work on the glasses and his uncanny ability to clog the passing lanes with his giant wing-span.

Max Tillinghast

6’9’’ – F – Lucas, Texas – Dallas Triumph

Tillinghast has an excellent frame and good motor for someone his size. He runs the floor well, and is a great shot blocker — excelling at getting the blocks to his teammates instead of the fourth row.

Josiah Gustafson

6’5’’ – G/F – Omaha, Nebraska – OSA Crusaders 17U
