Creighton Adds Men’s Golf Coach

With a wet and soggy U.S. Open in the books and the British Open just a few weeks away, the Creighton men’s golf team recently added to the public links discourse.

On June 15, the Creighton women’s and men’s golf programs held a fundraiser golf event at Field Club of Omaha. How do you think that went over with the new men’s golf coach?

That man is Chris Wiemers, and he comes to CU from Happy Hollow Country Club. Wiemers, from McCook, Nebraska, spent the past 3 years as the head teaching pro at HHCC.

His educational skills on the course no doubt will serve the young Bluejays golfers well, as will his own event experience. According to gocreighton.com, Wiemers has been a top-five player in the Nebraska Sectional Player of the Year each of the past 8 years. He’s played in two PGA Championships (2005 and 2006) and four Nationwide Tour events.

Wiemers takes over a CU golf program that finished 9th out of 9 teams at the MVC tournament in April..
