Creighton vs. Nebraska Basketball Game Set

Creighton has another date to add to its 2010-2011 men’s basketball schedule, as the in-state battle against the Nebraska Cornhuskers is set. Nebraska released its 2010-2011 basketball schedule today, and the Huskers will host the Bluejays on Sunday, December 5, with the time to be announced later.

For the past five seasons, the Bluejays and the Huskers have protected home court, as the road team has not won since 2004. Nebraska has won the last two matchups in Lincoln against the Bluejays, including a 54-52 win in 2008. The last win for Creighton in the Capitol City occurred during the 2004-2005 season, when Kellen Miliner hit a shot with 0.7 seconds remaining to win the defensive battle.

Unfortunately, Creighton will not have Rutgers transfer Greg Echenique available for this game, since he won’t suit up for the Jays until the end of Creighton’s fall semester. Nebraska’s roster, which was one of the shortest in the nation a couple of seasons ago, now boasts four players 6’11” or taller. Echenique’s presence in the post would have helped against that front line. But as with most rivalries, it promises to be an exciting, hard-fought game regardless of who’s on the rosters.
