Heller Not Coming to Creighton as Hitting Coach?

If Creighton hired a new hitting coach this summer, it looks like they might need to fill the spot again. In a hurry.

According to the Terre Haute Tribune-Star, Rick Heller is en route to Indiana State and will be introduced as the next manager of the Sycamores baseball program.

Back in June, WCFCourier.com reported that former Northern Iowa head baseball coach Heller “landed on his feet” with a job as Creighton’s hitting coach. That made complete sense, seeing how the former UNI manager is CU manager Ed Servais’ “best friend in coaching” (according to an April 2008 column by Tom Shatel in the Omaha World-Herald).

The head position in Terre Haute was available due to the departure in July of manager Lindsay Meggs to the University of Washington. Meggs earned the Missouri Valley Coach of the Year award in 2009 after taking the Trees to a second place finish in the MVC regular season standings.

Seems like there were some problems confirming the Heller-to-Creighton news a few weeks ago, too..
