Looking Ahead: #5 Creighton vs. Wisconsin

The Bluejays invade Madison for a rematch of last season’s game, which Creighton won at Morrison Stadium, 1-0. The Badgers come into this game riding high after a major victory, 2-0 over #6 Indiana. Wisconsin hasn’t had anybody step up and carry the goal-scoring load, but a number of capable midfielders could give the Bluejays a bit of trouble. UW’s season statistics don’t indicate any unstoppable players, but in this sport anything is possible. Sophomore midfielder Nick Janus was named to the College Soccer News team of the week after the Badgers’ big win, and could ride that momentum into another inspired effort this evening.

Meanwhile, Creighton is doubtless looking forward to the opportunity to bounce back from last week’s loss at #3 Maryland. Jose Gomez remains injured and unavailable for tonight’s match, but hopefully will be in shape for Sunday’s date with Indiana. The Jays have struggled without Gomez in the midfield, so it will be up to Bruno Castro and Andrew Ribeiro to direct the Creighton attack in his stead. The game will not be broadcast over the airwaves, but you can follow live stats from the Gametracker provided by Wisconsin.
