WBR has learned that 6-foot-1 Eldridge, Iowa lead guard Marlon Stewart has verbally committed to Coach Greg McDermott and the Creighton Bluejays.

Stewart entered the summer as an under-the-radar point guard playing with Chicago squad Team Rose on the Adidas circuit. He was one of the more impressive players in the midwest, leading to interest from Bradley, Florida Gulf Coast, Wichita State, Wake Forest, Dayton and Creighton for the North Scott product.

At 6-foot-1 and 200 lbs, Stewart has a good frame and knows how to use it when taking the ball to the rim. Despite being one of the bigger point guards on the circuit, a number of scouts say he’s also one of the fastest. He is a solid ball-handler and has good vision in the lane.

Stewart ‘s recruitment was hampered by a minor hand injury few months ago.

Marlon told ChicagoHoops.com last week, “I fractured my pinky on my right hand. I’m cleared to play and stuff. It’s doing great, I’m just getting back into shape doing lots of ball handling and working on my mid-range jump shooting.”

Stewart was on campus last weekend during Creighton’s Homecoming with fellow top 2015 recruit Chris Clarke. By all reports both had excellent showings. Stewart’s been increasingly impressive with his shot over the last month. He’s always possessed good shooting mechanics but Stewart really focused on improving his shot this summer.

Stewart came to Omaha without a Creighton offer but left with one in his hand. The Iowan did not waste any time deciding where he will play his future basketball.

Welcome to the Creighton family Marlon!
