Tom is the creative production manager at an Omaha advertising agency, and holds a BA in Journalism and Mass Communication from Creighton University. He began writing about Creighton Hoops on his blog in 2004 and is a founding contributor to White & Blue Review.

He volunteered his expertise in producing in-stadium videos for Creighton Athletics in 2006 and 2007 as a member of the Jays Video Team. He has written two books and has had his design work featured in several national magazines, including STEP Inside Design and Sports Illustrated. Additionally, he was a contributing author to BeA Design Group, one of the largest online graphic design communities, from 2003-2005. He also served on the Board of Directors of AIGA Nebraska, the local chapter of the Professional Association for Design, from 2001-2009.

What’s the deal with the “Polyfro” moniker you see all over his pieces? Years and years ago, Tom had a giant afro wig that he wore as part of a Halloween costume. Not wishing to retire its giant fro awesomeness after the holiday, he began wearing the wig out in public as part of his everyday ensemble. One night at a dance club, the DJ called out the moniker over the soundsystem. He thought it sounded cool, purchased the URL shortly thereafter, and when he started blogging in 2004, that’s where he did it.

For the first five years of White & Blue Review, Tom wrote under the pen name “Max Univers” but now publishes under his real name.
