Photo Gallery: Creighton Baseball Walks Off Against Wichita State

The Creighton Baseball team hosted their first home game of the season in a weekend series against former Missouri Valley Conference rival Wichita State on Saturday.  After a cancelled game on Friday night,  the Bluejays pulled off the win in the bottom of the 9th for a 3-1 victory.

Creighton was up early 1-0 until the eighth inning.  Wichita State put across the tying run to tie it, spoiling a great performance from Bluejay starter Ryan Tapani.  The bullpen shut down the Shockers in the top of the ninth to setup heroics in the bottom of the inning.

Creighton’s new high powered offense showed up again when Michael Emodi came up to bat with a runner on base after a walk.  He calmly blasted his seventh home run of the season to start things off right at home with a walk-off.  They close out the quick two game series on Sunday at noon.  Creighton is now 12-5 on the season.

WBR photographer Mike Spomer was on hand for the home opening day.  He captured some great photos of the players in action.  Get familiar with the team as their season is fully under way by checking out the WBR photo store to get your copies.  Enjoy the slideshow gallery below as well.
