About Rob Simms

Rob Simms began his affiliation with Creighton University athletics in January of 2001, when he arrived in Omaha to serve as an intern in the sports information department. Six months later he was hired full time and began 11 years of service in the athletic department. As part of the award-winning sports information department, he served as the primary media contact for the women’s basketball team and nationally-ranked men’s soccer and softball teams, enjoying countless MVC championships and NCAA tournament appearances alongside the outstanding student-athletes and coaches he had the privilege of working with. While at Creighton he also served as part of the NCAA College World Series Media Coordination Team, a role he continues.

After leaving Creighton in 2012 he remained connected to the department by working with the women’s hoops team as a color analyst on home radio broadcasts and serving as a free-lance statistician for men’s basketball television broadcasts. Rob would argue, likely successfully, that his knowledge of the Bluejay women’s basketball and softball programs surpasses most anyone’s. Perhaps because of that knowledge, he was invited to join White & Blue Review as a contributor.

Simms, a St. Louis native, is a former college athlete himself, lettering four years in baseball at Truman State University in Kirksville, Mo. His name can be found in the NCAA and Truman record books because they do keep track of unfortunate statistics too.
