Call them what you will, Creighton athletics has had its’ fair share of leaders on the field/court/pitch…and here’s the ten best, in this week’s Tempo’s Top Ten.

 

10. Jamie Thompson – Women’s Soccer – 2000-2003

CU goalkeeper tops the Jays record books in GK victories (41), Shutout (24), and GK minutes played (6815). Was also named MVC Player of the Year in 2002.

 

9. Josh Dotzler – Men’s Basketball – 2005-2009

Local star signed with Dana Altman when he was a freshman in high school. Ranks 6th all-time in assists and 2nd in steals.

 

8. Brian Holt – Men’s Soccer – 2008-Present

Creighton Goalkeeper has anchored the team’s best defense for 3 years. His 0.63 Goals against average for his career is 1st in CU history and ranks high in the country.

 

7. Chas Davis – Men’s Cross Country – 2001-2004

CU CC star during his time as a Bluejay has since returned to lead the program.

 

6. Bob Harstad – Men’s Basketball – 1987-1991

CU forward lead team by example. Would go to war every night and teammates would follow. 2nd all-time in points, rebounds and field goal attempts. 1st all-time in both free throws made and free throws attempted.

 

5. Brian Mullan – Men’s Soccer – 1998-2000

Current MLS professional Mullan was the backbone of the turn of the century teams and ranks in the top five in points (5th), goals (5th), assists (4th), and matches played (2nd).

 

4. Korie Lebeda – Volleyball – 2005-2008

Korie started and played in her career (119) and is the all-time leader for the Jays in assists with 5,281 — a staggering 1,074 more than her closest competition.

 

3. Scott Stahoviak – Baseball – 1989-1991

CU leader in Batting Avg. and On-Base %. Ranks 2nd in Total Bases and Hits, and 5th in Runs Scored.

 

2. Conni Yori – Women’s Basketball 1982-1985

Yori is top ten in scoring (3rd), FGM (2nd), FG% (5th), FTM (2nd), FT% (8th), rebounds (6th), assists (5th), and steals (2nd).

 

1. Ryan Sears – Men’s Basketball – 1997-2001

The definition of Coach on the Floor. Ranks first all-time in assists and steals, and 16th on the scoring list. Currently coaching basketball in Iowa.
