May 9, 2003 — Creighton beats #24 Southern Illinois en route to a MVC Tournament Championship.
The Bluejays and Salukis met in Evansville in the tournament semifinals, and Creighton beat SIU 2-1. CU won when it counted most, avenging a series loss at home to Southern Illinois in late March.
The Jays would go on to beat the host Purple Aces to claim the tournament title and advance to the NCAA Tournament.
