Today in the Valley: February 18, 2011

Wichita State (22-5, 13-3) vs. VCU (20-8, 12-4)

Koch Arena; Wichita, KS

6:00 CST  TV:  ESPN2

Wichita State was able to secure one of the “good” game sin this season BracketBuster Challenge with a match up against a top 100 RPI school at home.  The Shockers, who are currently tied for first place in the Valley with Missouri State will need a win tonight to strengthen their resume for a possible at large bid if one is needed.  Many think that the Valley has the possibility of being a two bid league with MSU and WSU leading the charge.

Virginia Commonwealth will enter the game with WSU with a 20 win season already under their belt and a solid RPI of 64.  Currently in a three way tie for third in the Colonial Atlantic Conference, the Rams are coming off an embarising loss to George Mason 51-71.  VCU will be a tough match up for the Shockers, as they bost three 1,000 point club members in their starting line up.

Both teams bring a lot of athleticism to the court, and this one should be fun to watch.
