Friday, September 3

Women’s Soccer vs. Iowa State
7:00 p.m., Morrison Stadium

After beginning the season with a double-overtime scoreless draw and a 1-0 loss on the road at Northern Illinois, Bruce Erickson’s Bluejays needed some offense. They finally found a groove, scoring 7 goals in two matches en route to a 2-0 record last weekend at the adidas Husker Classic in Lincoln. Erin Gunther scored in each game, a 2-1 win against Loyola Maryland and a 5-0 romp over Loyola (Ill.), and the Bluejays allowed just 1 goal against all weekend. Claire Zach added her first goal of the season in the first game of the weekend, and then Rachelle Holt, Brittney Neumann, Macy Mauer, and Lauren Cingoranelli each added a tally in the blowout against the Ramblers.

The Bluejays and Cyclones battled to a scoreless draw in Omaha last season. Iowa State enters this match 3-0-1 on the season, and head to Omaha after beating Montana and Nevada at the University of Montana Tournament last weekend.

Volleyball at Marcia E. Hamilton Active Ankle Challenge
vs. Saint Louis University
7:00 p.m., St. Louis, MO

The season is off to a slow start for Kirsten Bernthal Booth’s Bluejays. After beating San Francisco to open the Bluejay Invitational, the Jays have dropped consecutive matches to Lipscomb, Kansas, and Nebraska. Now they must hit the road for the first time this season, as the Bluejays start a weekend invitational in Saint Louis. Booth’s team will look for revenge against the host Billikens on Friday, after losing 3-0 to SLU in Omaha last November. SLU enters the weekend 1-2 in 2010.

Saturday, September 4

Cross Country hosts CU/UNO Invitational
8:00 a.m., Chili Greens Golf Course

Chas Davis begins his second season as the XC coach at CU, and the Bluejays run in their only Omaha race of the season.  The weather Saturday morning looks to be beautiful; come out for some fresh air and cheer on the CU harriers.

Volleyball at Marcia E. Hamilton Active Ankle Challenge
vs. Iowa, 11:30 a.m.
vs. Wake Forest, 5:00 p.m.

The Bluejays are 1-1 all-time against the Hawkeyes, and CU has never met the Demon Deacons on the volleyball court. Iowa enters the weekend 3-0, while Wake Forest is 2-1.

Men’s Soccer vs. UNC Greensboro
7:00 p.m., Morrison Stadium

Jaime Clark’s Creighton Bluejays began the regular season with a 2-0 shutout at Loyola (Ill.). The defense was terrific, allowing just 2 shots (and none on goal) all night. The Bluejays’ first regular season home match takes place Saturday night, with the Spartans of UNC Greensboro the opponent. CU and UNC Greensboro have played 3 times before, with Creighton holding a 2-1 series edge. The Spartans won their first game of the season, against Charlotte, and are 1-0 as they travel to Omaha.
