The Creighton men’s basketball team opened the public portion of their 2018-19 season with 101-57 exhibition victory over Winona State on Saturday at the CHI Health Center Omaha. This was Creighton’s first exhibition game on a Saturday night.
Ty-Shon Alexander and Davion Mintz were perfect from the field in the first half, going a combined 9-of-9 from the field including 8 three-pointers. Ultimately, they led all Jays in scoring with 17 and 12 points respectively. Creighton finished with six players in double-figures with the other starters–Mitch Ballock, Samson Froling, and Martin Krampelj finishing with 10 points, as well as Marcus Zegarowski with 10 points off the bench.
Overall it was a balanced outing for the Bluejays as they get ready for the regular season opener on November 6th against Western Illinois. There are still a lot of questions heading into the season, but it does look like the Bluejays could have a solid rotation along with some growing pains with the young roster.
To really break it all down, we turn to WBR’s Matt DeMarinis and the Omaha World Herald’s Jon Nyatawa to dive in deep to the game and the outlook to the season. Enjoy the season’s first episode of the Bluejay Beat.
