Bluejay Bytes (6/18/13)

Things are bustling on the Hilltop for the Creighton Bluejays. White & Blue Review presents “Bluejay Bytes” as a way to keep up on all things Creighton sports.

On the Hilltop

  • Local radio show Bluejay Banter won the Omaha Press Club award for Excellence in Journalism, sports radio category.  Listen to their latest show from Monday night.

Men’s Basketball

  •  Incoming JUCO James Milliken wants to make a statement right away in a Creighton uniform.
  •   Another incoming JUCO, Devin Brooks, is waiting for a cast to come off.  Coach Lutz told Bluejay Banter last week that he fractured a wrist in a JUCO All-Star game.
  •  Of course, we have to add in an Ethan Wragge tweet since North Carolina is in town for the CWS this week.

Women’s Basketball

  • This report lists potential things changing in women’s hoops. Would Creighton ever get to host a first or second round game in the NCAA Tournament?
  • The Bluejays get a new assistant coach in Matt Fritsche.
  • Former Bluejay Chevelle Herring takes over for Fritsche as interim head coach at Midland University.
  • Marissa Janning was off the court for some reason, but is cleared to play again now
