Booker Woodfox Wins NBA D-League 3 Point Contest

Booker Woodfox only played two years as a Bluejay, but did enough in those two years to cement his legacy as an all-time fan favorite — if not as an all-time Bluejay, period. Woodfox is Creighton’s all-time leader in career three-point percentage (45.51%) and he ranked second nationally as a senior with his 47.6 percent marksmanship from three-point range after leading the nation for almost the entire year. He also won the 2009 Larry Bird MVC Player of the Year Award, and hit a buzzer-beater to defeat Wichita State in the quarterfinals of the MVC Tournament that March.

Now playing for the Texas Legends in the NBA Development League, or “D-League” as its often referred to, Woodfox is averaging 12.7 points a game, and is tied for 15th in the D-League in Three-Point Field Goal Percentage as he is shooting 40.6% from beyond the arc this season. He is the second leading three-point shooter on the Legends, just behind Justin Dentmon (41.4%), however, his 28 three-pointers made leads the team. And during last week’s All Star Game festivities, he not only won the NBA D-League Showcase Three-Point Contest, he dominated — winning the competition with a final-round score of 32, edging Marcus Landry of the Reno Bighorns, who had 20.

Woodfox began the contest with a round one high-score of 22, easily topping Landry’s second-best score of 17. In the semifinals, however, it was Landry coming up with the high-score of 38, but Woodfox was not far behind, also getting into the final round with a 36. It was Woodfox who took home the hardware after dominating in the final round, though.

Here’s his entire performance in case you missed the broadcast on Versus, including all three of his rounds, plus interviews after both the second and the final rounds!
