Building Houses, Playing Golf

The Creighton women’s basketball team does a lot more on the court than making baskets and diving for loose balls.

This weekend, the women’s basketball team is taking part in Habitat for Humanity as part of over the 500 volunteers helping to build houses that are to be completed by next weekend in Omaha.

From Channel 6 News:

“It’s going to be pretty amazing,” said forward Megan Neuvirth. “Just watching everyone and all the help that comes out, it’s pretty exciting to see the people are willing to volunteer and put forth a good effort.”

The women’s basketball team has taken part in Habitat for Humanity each year since 2003 according to the Creighton women’s basketball Media Guide.  They also take part in many other programs like Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Boys and Girls Clubs, and the Missouri Valley Conference’s “Just Read” program.

In other women’s basketball news: Incoming recruit Ally Jensen is also a golfer.  This past weekend she took part in  the Iowa High School State Golf tournament as a member of the Ballard High School team.
