Consensus top prospect Hudson Greer has announced his decision to make Creighton his home for the next phase of his basketball life. The Bluejays beat out a notable list of suitors in Alabama, Arizona, Kansas, and Texas for the four-star wing, who — depending on your preferred source for recruiting insight — is listed at 6-foot-6 or 6-foot-7 and weighs between 180-190 pounds.

“After I visited, it just felt like home,” Greer said in his announcement video on On3.com’s YouTube channel Friday morning. “Off the court, it felt like the guys embraced me. It was awesome. On the court, the way Coach Mac runs his guys off pin downs, off flares, things of that nature — I couldn’t ask for a better situation for myself.”

He also had an early October official visit scheduled with two-time reigning national champion UConn and had received interest from Duke. But neither school were reported to have pulled the trigger on an offer for the native of Austin, Texas, who will spend his final year of high school hoops at the prestigious Montverde Academy in Florida. He’s coming off a summer in which he averaged 14.3 points and 6.1 rebounds at Peach Jam and 13.5 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 2.0 assists overall on the Nike EYBL circuit.

A 39.1% shooter from 3-point range throughout his high school career, Greer put up 22.4 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 2.0 steals per game in his most recent season at Lake Travis High School. All of the major recruiting sites have him ranked among the Top 60 prospects for the Class of 2025. He’s rated 27th overall by ESPN, 32nd overall by Rivals, 35th overall by On3, and 58th overall by 247Sports.

Greer visited Omaha last December, and afterward he heaped praise on Greg McDermott and the Bluejay program. He told Phenom Hoops Report that “Omaha is a great place. They love their basketball and Coach Mac is one of the best coaches out there. Love his creativity on offense. His staff is great too…They do everything first-class.”

In an April piece with On3, Greer mentioned that the staff pitched him on filling a Baylor Scheierman-type role. “But I see myself more as a better Alex O’Connell, who was there a couple of years ago,” Greer told them, showing that he’s been paying attention to CU’s program for awhile.
