With the departure of Bob Warming and welcoming to campus of new men’s soccer coach Jamie Clark, many Bluejays futbol fans wondered what would happen to assistant Johnny Torres, one of the school’s most decorated players.
White & Blue Review has learned that Torres will remain at Creighton as an assistant to incoming head coach Jamie Clark. Also joining the staff is Jeff Rowland, previously an assistant to Clark at Harvard.
Torres, a two-time national player of the year and one of the greatest players in NCAA soccer history, will continue his coaching duties for the Bluejays soccer program. This season will mark Torres’ fourth as an assistant coach at CU; he returned to Creighton to complete his undergraduate degree while serving as the team’s manager.
Rowland, like Torres, is a highly decorated former collegiate standout. He was a finalist for the Hermann Trophy in 2005 and earned All-America and Academic All-America honors twice while leading the New Mexico Lobos.
