The Creighton volleyball team opened their regular season with and invitational out in West Lafayette, Indiana this past weekend. They opened things up on Friday with a grind it out sweep over Loyola-Chicago. On Saturday, the Bluejays did something very rare and beat the host school Purdue on their home court, sweeping them in three sets.
In a new format where volleyball teams don’t have to play two games on the same day anymore, Creighton came back out on Sunday to face Duke. After getting the victories in extra play to sweep their previous two opponents, the Bluejays ended up going the full five on Sunday against Duke before losing to the Blue Devils. The Bluejays led Duke 24-22 in Set 2, 24-22 in Set 3, and 24-23 in Set 4 and ended up in the bonus in all three games. Although the Bluejays lost that one, they did well enough to win the invitational on the weekend with what many should consider a successful weekend. Head Coach Kirsten Bernthal Booth, although not liking to lose, really likes her team

Matt DeMarinis is joined once again by Megan Epperson — yes Megan got married this summer– to break things down from the weekend and give you a great dose of volleyball to get you ready for the Bluejays back on the court next weekend. Enjoy!
