During the 2007 Missouri Valley Conference Tournament, Nate Funk scored a Creighton single-game record 33 points against Missouri State in the semifinals and a school tournament-record 66 points total in leading the Bluejays to an Arch Madness championship.
After losing to Southern Illinois twice in the regular season by a combined 5 points, the Salukis stood in the way of Funk and the Bluejays returning to the NCAA Tournament. In front of an Arch Madness-record crowd at the Scottrade Center, #11 SIU would lead only once in the game (at the 6:40 mark in the first half) while Funk paced the Jays with 19 points. He earned Most Outstanding Player honors for the tournament, and was joined on the all-tournament team by Anthony Tolliver and Nick Porter.
It marked the last time the Bluejays advanced to the NCAA Tournament.
