Creighton will head into tonight’s 6:00 opening match up of the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament with a lot riding on a W. A lot of soccer fans, including myself, feel that this game against Drake could make or break our post season tournament possibilities.
Creighton was able to put together a solid win over a very good and recognizable UCLA team on Halloween. That win over a top ten ranked team and top five RPI really gave Creighton a good shot at an at large bid. Many figured a win over Drake the following wee would surely secure that invitation. Unfortunetly, the Jays were only able to play Drake to a 3-3 tie, and put Creighton right back into a situation they did not want to be in. They now NEED a win over Drake to fell any kind of confidence about the post season. A win, meaning a conference championship finals apperance, would go a long way in impressing the selection committee.
But this group of guys would rather secure their fate and not have to sit around waiting for a panel to determine there fate. Bottom line, they want to win, and they just want to win on Friday.
