Bob Warming and the Creighton Bluejays will head to Des Moines on Saturday to wrap up their Missouri Valley Conference regular season. Creighton enters the game following a solid performance against UCLA on Halloween, an effort that gave the Jays a 1-0 victroy over the #7 Bruins. Creighton will be looking to ride that momentum into the match up against Drake, one that has direct implications on MVC Tournament seeding.
Currently, Creighton would be the #3 seed in the tournament, as Drake holds the tiebreaker over the Bluejays. With a win, Creighton would move up to the #2 seed. That all sounds well and good, but with only four of the six Valley teams qualifying for the tournament, Creighton would most likely face Drake in the first round either way. Drake was able to get the best of CU in Omaha, 1-0, on October 14, on a rainy and cold night at Morrison Stadium.
These two teams match up well, and with Creighton coming off the big win against UCLA I like the Bluejays’ chances. Even before the UCLA match, Creighton’s players were projecting a never-give-up attitude toward a season that hasn’t exactly gone the way they might have imagined it a few months ago. These guys are not done yet.
