Highlight Reel: #25 Creighton Heads into Christmas with Three Wins

#25 Creighton heads into Big East play with a 10-2 record after three home wins — blowouts of Maryland Eastern Shore and USC Upstate sandwiched around a close game with UT Arlington.

Last Friday against UMES, the Jays were dominant from start to finish. The Bluejays scored 13 unanswered points to open the game, had a 28-point lead at the half, and then blitzed UMES at the start of the second with a 17-2 run. They were active and vocal defensively, keeping UMES from attempting a shot in the paint until the game was over five minutes old. Here’s all the highlights:

On Monday, they had a 25-point lead late in the first half against UT Arlington, an honestly surprising result against one of the better mid-major teams in the country and a probable NCAA Tournament team come March. The Bluejays had played their best half of basketball of the season on both ends of the floor, led by Marcus Foster, who scored 22 points before the half, and an opportunistic defense that forced 10 turnovers. Things got closer in the second half, but the Jays prevailed 90-81. Here’s all the highlights:

And lastly on Wednesday, they demolished the USC Upstate Spartans 116-62 and set a litany of offensive records in the process. The Bluejays made their first seven shots and nine of their first 10, burying USC Upstate early and often with a relentless attack. They led 58-24 at the break, the second-biggest halftime lead in CenturyLink Center history, and wound up making the third-most three pointers in school history, dishing out a school record 32 assists, scoring the third most points in school history, and racking up the second-largest margin of victory in arena history. Here’s all the offensive fireworks:
