This week in the Caymans, Creighton won three games in three days, including two games over likely NCAA Tournament teams come March. On Monday, Creighton turned an 35-32 Boise State lead into an 82-61 Creighton blowout with a huge run spanning nearly 15 minutes of game time. The Jays scored 53 points (1.82 points per possession) over that stretch, they made 18-of-26 field goals, they had 15 assists on those 18 made baskets.
All of the action from this one is in the WBR Highlight Reel!
On Tuesday, Mitch Ballock led the Bluejays with 23 points, seven rebounds and six assists in a 93-68 win over Sun Belt favorite Georgia State. They made 20 of their 33 first-half shots, including eight from 3-point range. They put together a series of short runs — 11-4 to open the game, and eight straight points to turn an 18-12 lead into a 26-12 advantage. And they ended the half on a huge 24-4 run, which included nine points from Damien Jefferson in a variety of ways — a dunk, a three-pointer, a mid-range jumper, and a dribble drive. All of that and more is in the WBR Highlight Reel below!
And then on Wednesday, it was Ty-Shon Alexander’s turn — he scored a career-high 36 points with seven 3-pointers, and a perfect 11-11 from the line. It’s the most points scored by a Bluejay since Doug McDermott hung 45 on Providence on Senior Night 2014 (Marcus Foster had 35, though, two years ago vs Georgetown).
Creighton led for all but 47 seconds against the #16th ranked Clemson Tigers, building an early lead and then holding off a series of Tiger runs with clutch baskets to win 87-82. Here’s the highlights!
