The Creighton women’s soccer team was able to lock up home field advantage last night when they defeated Evansville 4-1. The win, putting their final record at 11-5-2, locked in the #3 seed for the Jays. That means Bruce Erickson’s team will host a quarterfinal match at Morrison Stadium this Sunday, November 1. Down 1-0 at halftime, Creighton put together a scoring clinic in the second half against the Purple Aces. The Jays scored 4 unanswered goals, including two from Beth Fyles.
Creighton plays host to the MVC Tournament semifinals and championship match, so the Bluejays can play at home throughout starting with a match — and a win — against the same UE squad on Sunday. While Erickson probably won’t want his team down 1-0 at half, I’m sure Jays fans would love to see a repeat performance in the scoring column against the Aces. The winner of Sunday’s match will face the #2 seed Missouri State. Creighton beat the Bears on October 3 in Omaha, 3-0.
Be sure to catch the women in action on Sunday, a day after the men host UCLA. GO JAYS!
