The most crucial recruiting week of the offseason continues to trend in a positive direction for the Creighton men’s basketball program. Two days after former Georgia State signee Jalen Windham committed and signed to play for the Bluejays, Memphis transfer Antwann Jones announced that he would be joining the team for the upcoming 2019-20 season.
Jones, a 6-foot-6 guard, will have three years of eligibility remaining once he completes a redshirt season next year. As a consensus four-star prospect, Jones was rated just outside the top 100 for incoming 2018 freshman by both 247sports and Rivals.com.
He played in 35 of a possible 36 games in his first year at Memphis, including six starts. He averaged 4.7 points, 3.0 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and shot 84.4% from the free throw line in 16.7 minutes per game. In an odd twist of fate, Jones’ career at Memphis ended in the same city he’ll now make his home as the Tigers lost to Creighton in the second round of the National Invitation Tournament on March 22 at the CHI Health Center Omaha. Jones finished with six points, six rebounds, three steals, and two assists in 24 minutes off the bench in the 79-67 loss to Jays.
Creighton has one more official visit set for this weekend as they will now host 6-foot-9 guard Tristan Enaruna. The four-star recruit has already visited Miami and has a trip to Kansas scheduled as well. Enaruna has been the top priority for the Bluejays as they look to finalize their 2019 recruiting class.
