100-ish Words About Butler

The NCAA ranks 301 collegiate baseball teams in its Ratings Percentage Index (RPI). Creighton is the Big East’s best team, according to this mark (61 in the RPI as of 4/24). Butler? They are one of three Big East clubs with an RPI of 200 or worse (220, to be exact).

Yep, the league only has seven schools that play baseball at this level, and three of those schools are among the 81 worst according to this metric (Xavier and Villanova are the others, 230 and 278 respectively).

Still, the Bulldogs are coming off a road series win at Seton Hall (158 in RPI, FYI). Butler’s 15-24 entering this weekend’s home games in Indy, where they’ve lost their last four. They’re 3-10 in their last 13, which followed a nine-game win streak.

The Bluejays, by the Numbers

Last Time Out

Creighton hosted St. John’s in a series billed as a showcase for the top of the Big East standings. The Bluejays and Red Storm split a pair of games during a series that was shortened because of, well, storms.

Then, Creighton trounced in-city “rival” Omaha behind the work of 10 pitchers, posting an 8-2 win.
