The Creighton men’s basketball team got the big victory over Villanova last Saturday, but they did not let that win distract them from Tuesday night’s home finale. The Bluejays rolled over DePaul 82-57 as the home fans said goodbye to a few seniors while hoping a junior sticks around for another season.
Marcus Foster led all scorers with 20 points, while Khyri Thomas flirted with a triple-double with 16 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists while forcing 5 steals to set the pace for the Bluejays. Seniors Toby Hegner finished his night with 7 points and 3 rebounds with Tyler Clement and Manny Suarez both getting in the scorebook, as the four seniors took their final bow in front of the CenturyLink Center crowd.
The Bluejays took a 10-point halftime lead and quickly extended it to over 20 within the first few minutes of the second half. They made it look easy and methodical, playing with a lot of confidence. Creighton will finish out the regular season on Saturday at Marquette.
As the seniors came off the court one-by-one, Thomas also came off the floor with the crowd chanting for one more year hoping to see him at the CLink next season. The talented junior has been projected as a first round NBA pick, but many fans are hoping he decides to stay for the 2018-19 season.
