The Creighton Bluejays and their fans rang in homecoming with a rousing Saturday of sports on campus. Two teams continued their hot play, while one squad saw its win streak snapped.
In the afternoon, Bruce Erickson’s Bluejays beat Evansville 3-0. It was the 8th straight win for Creighton’s women’s soccer team, moving the Jays to 10-2-2 on the season.
Morrison Stadium stayed busy, as the nationally ranked Creighton men’s soccer team welcomed national power Indiana to Omaha for the first time. The Hoosiers jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first half, and the Bluejays, playing down a man for most of the match, couldn’t complete a comeback, losing 3-2.
In the evening’s final and most exciting showing, the Bluejays volleyball team marched to its second 5-set win of the weekend. The Jays had to rally to defeat Wichita State; CU has now won 9 of its last 10 matches.
