The Creighton men’s basketball team hit the court at home again after the crazy ending on Wednesday night against Marquette looking to turn things around against Villanova. The Bluejays looked good in the first half and seemed like they shook off the loss, but Villanova hit key shots and the Jays turned it over at key times and the Jays lose their second straight at home, 90-78 on Sunday.
The Bluejays came out with a lot of energy to start the game and appeared to be hitting shots on the inside and outside with Ty-Shon Alexander putting up 17 points and Martin Krampelj with 10 in the first half to give the Jays a 42-38 halftime lead.
Things looked good early in the second half as Mitch Ballock drained a three on the first possession to extend the lead. However, Villanova started frustrating the Jays with switching defenses and hitting key shots of their own to go on a 13-0 run and take the lead. While the Jays hung close in a back and forth affair, Villanova would have an answer each time and Creighton turned it over in key situations with the Wildcats making the Bluejays pay. Creighton now goes to 1-3 in Big East Conference play and it doesn’t get any easier as the Jays hit the road to St. John’s on Wednesday.
