The final stretch of Big East games were set, the Creighton men’s basketball just came off an eight day break, and a couple winnable games at home were on the horizon as the Bluejays were sitting squarely on the NCAA bubble on Wednesday night. Unfortunately, none of those factors seemed to be a benefit as the Bluejays gave up a game at home in the 66-61 loss to Marquette.
Creighton got down early and could never rise up over the hump to get the lead and keep it. Outside of a 2-point lead halfway through the first half, the Bluejays never led and their shooting was atrocious. Creighton shot 3-for-21 behind the arc and be came a huge factor with many of the misses coming at a pivotal point in the game to possibly be on the leading end after holding Marquette without a field goal for several minutes down the stretch in the second half. However, Marquette hit shots when they needed and finished the game strong.
