A battle of top ten teams descended upon Morrison Stadium on Friday night as the Creighton men’s soccer team took on Akron. Sean Kim continued his hot start as a Bluejay scoring his third goal of the season against the Zips in the 24th minute of the first half.
Akron returned the favor in the second half scoring on a header in the 57th minute. Both teams battled throughout the rest of regulation sending the match into overtime.
The Zips celebrated a little too soon in the first overtime as they appeared to score a goal, but it was called off on an offsides call. The game went into a second overtime before finally ending in a 1-1 tie.
WBR photographer Mike Spomer had a busy night as he made his way over to Morrison after the volleyball team swept Syracuse. He shares with us some great shots of the game including a shot of Kim as he scored Creighton’s only goal of the night.
The men’s soccer team returns to the field on Sunday afternoon as they take on Rutgers at 2:30 p.m.
