Earlier this week, WBR’s Matt DeMarinis answered questions from Bluejay fans about how the Jays have looked so far this summer. Here’s the Q&A from Twitter in case you missed it.
Peter Cunningham (@MrC_Mathematics): Haven’t heard much Jasen Green talk this off season…How’s he looking? Playing more 4? 3? Both? Where do you see him fitting in the mix with the new guys?
Matt DeMarinis.: I feel like he’s been the best player in the gym. It’s skewed a tad because he’s playing a lot of small ball 5 out of necessity, but I think he’s been great.
—
Sami Osmani (@samiosmani_): Loudest player in the gym?
Matt D.: Ty Davis.
—
Matt Witt (@mathyouwitt): Predictions on starting lineup by the time Big East games start?
Matt D.: Oh man. Knew this one was coming. I’ll go with Dix/Zugic/Green/McAndrew/Freeman by Big East play.
—
Jack White (@jackwhite_33): Who’s been the best defender?
Matt D.: Toss up between Jasen Green and Josh Dix. Hudson Greer has been really solid as well, especially on the glass.
It just hit me that we haven’t been asked this question in 4 years. Props to Jack for leaving it in the chamber and being ready.

Da Jays Baby Love Da Jays (@dasnakesbaby): After seeing this group (and considering the context of it being July), what do you see as a ceiling and a floor? Have you seen anything you didn’t expect? What are you most excited about with this group now? Thanks!
Matt D.: It’s difficult to assess a ceiling until we get a look at Owen Freeman. He’s a really skilled 5 man that changes the equation quite a bit. I did not expect Hudson Greer to look as ready as he does. The collective skill and depth at the guard/wing is really intriguing.
—
Otrips | RDJ (@12otrips): How back are we?
Matt D.: At this moment? Extreme degrees of not back until they get an actual big man in the mix.
—
Rob List (@CoachList22): How do Harper and Graves look thus far? Solid players off the bench? What about Greer? Solid rotational player?
Matt D.: Harper’s size and skill combo offensively is intriguing. He has a bully ball game and sees the floor well. Graves and Davis have had their moments. Greer looks more ready to contribute early than I expected — good shooter, good athlete, physically mature for a freshman wing.
—
Hunter (@hvick24): How is our center postion looking? Issac or Jasen?
Matt D.: Jasen and Isaac have been every day guys. There hasn’t been much performance volatility with them. It’s pretty hard to evaluate the center position right now though because it will look different in October.
—
jon skinner (@jonskin01929102): Nick, Austin, Blake and Ty who looks ready to contribute immediately? (Can be more than 1)
Matt D.: Oh… that’s a tough one. It’s definitely a group that is further ahead offensively than defensively. Blake’s size gives him an edge over the others.
