The Dream Season, 20 Years Later: Games 3 and 4

Twenty years ago last week, Jim Hendry and the Creighton Bluejays baseball team began their journey to the program’s first and only trip to the College World Series, one of the greatest accomplishments in Omaha sports history. All spring, White & Blue Review will look back, game by game, at the Bluejays’ own Road to Omaha.


Game 3: Creighton 9, Regis 7
Game 4: Creighton 23, Regis (February 24, 1991)

Recap: The Bluejays outlasted Regis in the first game of a double-header. Scott Stahoviak went 3 for 4, including a double and a home run. Bobby Langer hit 2 doubles and a triple. On the mound, freshman Alan Benes picked up his first Creighton victory.

Game two of the twin-bill found the Bluejays smothering Regis to the tune of a 6-inning, 23-run blowout. The Jays recorded 9 extra-base hits, including 3 home runs, en route to the win.

Star Performers: Langer went 4 for 6 during the doubleheader, with 2 doubles, a triple, and a home run. He knocked in 5 RBI.
