October 27, 1979 — For the only time in the schools’ histories, Creighton and Iowa State take to the pitch in men’s soccer.
Coached by Marck Schmechel, the 1979 Creighton Bluejays went 12-5-1 in the school’s first year of Division I soccer. This effort included a 3-2 win against Iowa State in Ames, one of just four road wins for the Bluejays in 1979.
