Today in Bluejay History (10/6)

October 6, 2001 — Creighton’s Melissa Walsh becomes the school’s all-time leader in kills.

Walsh, a native of Omaha, recorded her 1,376th kill against Southern Illinois. The win against the Salukis led the Bluejays to a school-best 6-1 start in Missouri Valley Conference play.

Leah Ratzlaff eventually passed Walsh’s career kills, currently placing Melissa second on the all-time list.   Earlier this year, Walsh became the first volleyball player inducted into the Creighton Athletics Hall of Fame.
