February 15, 1991 — Creighton’s men’s tennis team gets a big road win over Marquette.

Rick Faust and Rusty Komori got the Bluejays the first point with a 6-1,6-2 win at #1 doubles over Marquette’s Robert Budiono and Jon Calvillo. MU’s Tony Tringali and Matt Tobin defeated CU’s Tom Lilly and Mike McBurney at #2 doubles 2-6, 6-3, 7-5 to even the match at 1-1.

Paul Delatore and Brian Langenkamp (CU) defeated Mike Rahaley and Carlos Gonzalez (MU) to give the Bluejays a 2-1 lead with a thrilling 6-1,1-6,7-5 victory at #3 doubles.

In singles play, Komori won but Faust, Langenkamp, and Lilly dropped their matches as the Bluejays trailed 4-3 on the road. But then Deltore won #5 singles and Mike McBurney clinched a comeback 5-4 win for the Bluejays.
