April 4, 1981 — Creighton’s softball team loses to Oklahoma 1-0, snapping a few school-record win streaks.

From March 10 through April 4, 1981, Mary Higgins’ Bluejays softball team won 21 consecutive games. Among those 20 wins were 17 straight road victories, also the best such streak in Creighton history.

The 1981 Bluejays went 51-7, finishing the most successful season in CU softball history. At 51-7, the Bluejays finished with a school-record .879 winning percentage. At the time, Higgins’ team set school marks for runs scored (currently 2nd on all-time list), hits (currently 3rd), and home runs (currently 5th).
