Southern Illinois (17-21, 5-7) vs. Indiana State (24-11, 5-4)
Abe Field, Carbondale, IL
- 3:00 p.m. Friday (Cornell, SIU vs. Petricka, ISU)
- 2:00 p.m. Saturday (Forer, SIU vs. Rodriguez, ISU)
- 1:00 p.m. Sunday (Hoelscher SIU vs. Van Siki, ISU)
Southern Illinois will look to continue its winning ways. The Salukis snapped a 5-game losing streak on Wednesday with a 8-7 win over Murray State. SIU is a team that can put together a few quality wins. With only 9 MVC games remaining, they will look to repeat last year’s season end when they won 9 of their final 10 games.
The Sycamores have shown great resiliency and depth over the season. They’ve come from behind to win a few contests, and their pitching staff is solid. The Trees have also been a fan of small ball this season; they are ranked in the top 10 nationally in stolen bases, sacrifice flies, and sacrifice bunts. Execution will be key as they hit the road for this important conference series.
Evansville (21-16, 3-3) vs. Bradley (11-21, 4-8)
Charles H. Braun Stadium, Evansville, IN
- 6:00 p.m. Friday (Dennis, UE vs. Bircher, BU)
- 2:00 p.m. Saturday (Johns, UE vs. Booden, BU)
- 1:00 p.m. Sunday (TBA, UE vs. Altback, BU)
Evansville will play host to the Bradley Braves this weekend as they look to improve on a 6-game winning streak, their longest since 2007. Bradley, on the other hand, finds itself in a bit of a different spot at this point in the season.
After losing their final game against Creighton last weekend, the Braves lost a doubleheader to Wisconsin-Milwaukee by a combined score of 32-8. BU looks to get back on track after fumbling an opportunity to pick up ground during a 10-game homestand — the Braves went just 5-5 in those games.
