Oregon State had their backs against the wall on Wednesday night in game 2 of the College World Series Championship Series in a must win situation to keep their title hopes alive. It came down to one last at-bat in the top of the ninth that may have changed this series, as the Beavers hit a clutch home run and then held off Arkansas 5-3 at TD Ameritrade Park.
Arkansas held a 3-2 lead in the top of the ninth with two outs and two strikes on Caydn Grenier. Granier then fouled off a pitch in foul territory as three Arkansas players allowed it to fall in between them. The next pitch was an RBI single to tie the game. Then the next batter Trevor Larnach blasted a ball over the right field fence to give Oregon State a 5-3 lead into the bottom of the ninth. The Beavers then executed almost flawlessly to retire the Razorbacks, and it will be game three on Thursday to decide the championship.
