The 2012 College World Series kicked off on Friday afternoon with UCLA and Stony Brook. The Bruins have looked tough throughout the postseason, while the Seawolves are making their first CWS appearance, winning five elimination games during the Road to Omaha.
Unfortunately, for Stony Brook they will need to fend of a few more elimination games to continue their run after losing to UCLA 9-1. Seawolves starter Tyler Johnson was chased early giving up seven runs after only 2 1/3 innings. On the other hand, Bruin starter Adam Plutko settled down after an early Stony Brook threat and pitched a strong seven innings for the win.
