Friday (September 7)

Creighton Volleyball vs. Ball State @ Northern Colorado Classic (5:30 p.m.)

A week after opening the home portion if their 2012 season, the Bluejays hit the road again. Colorado’s the destination, as Creighton will participate in the Northern Colorado Classic in Greeley. You can still follow the Jays as they head west; all three matches will be on 1180 AM KZOT in Omaha (and online at 1180zone2.com).

Creighton has never faced Ball State in volleyball, but the Bluejays (5-1) and Cardinals (4-3) will kick off the classic at Butler-Hancock Sports Pavilion Friday evening.

Creighton Women’s Soccer at Nebraska-Omaha (5:30 p.m.)

A matchup of Omaha’s two D-I women’s soccer teams commences at UNO Soccer Field Friday, where the Bluejays (1-4-1) and Mavericks (0-5-0) look to reverse their respective recent struggles.

Creighton Men’s Soccer at Santa Clara (9:00 p.m.)

The vaunted Bluejays soccer program has never defeated the Broncos (1-2) from Santa Clara; the two schools each have a draw in two meetings. The Jays (2-0-1) have never met Santa Clara on the Broncos’ home field, either. But Elmar Bolowich’s team is hoping to score a victory Friday during his team’s first road trip of 2012.

Saturday (September 8)

Creighton Volleyball vs. Tulsa @ Northern Colorado Classic (11:00 a.m.)

Creighton Volleyball vs. Northern Colorado @ Northern Colorado Classic (8:00 p.m.)

The Jays will play twice Saturday in the Northern Colorado Classic, against former Valley foe Tulsa (5-3 entering the weekend) and the host Bears of UNC (6-0).

Creighton will see two-time All-American Tyler Henderson when the Jays face the Golden Hurricane, and then run into one of the hottest teams in the country in the nightcap against Northern Colorado, which won both the Belmont Invitational and the Hampton Inn & Suites Classic en route to a perfect start to the season.

Sunday (September 9)

Creighton Women’s Soccer at Cal State-Fullerton (2:30 p.m.)

Like their peers on the men’s team, the Bluejays women’s soccer squad will be in California this weekend. The Jays will face the Titans (1-4-0 entering the weekend) a few days after CSF travels to Tallahassee for a match against Florida State.

Creighton leads the all-time meetings between the two programs, beating the Titans in September 2010.

Creighton Men’s Soccer at Saint Mary’s (5:00 p.m.)

Two nights after starting their trip west with a match against Santa Clara, the Bluejays will visit Saint Mary’s Stadium for a meeting with the Gaels (1-0-1 entering the weekend). SMC hosts CSU Bakersfield Friday, and both the Jays and Gaels could bring victories into Sunday afternoon’s match — just the second meeting between these programs all time.

Creighton Softball vs. South Dakota (2:00 p.m.) and Iowa Western Community College (4:00 p.m.)

The only Bluejays team in action at home this weekend? The Creighton softball squad. The Jays host South Dakota and Iowa Western for some fall ball at the CU Sports Complex.

Monday (September 10) and Tuesday (September 11)

Creighton Men’s Golf at Fairway Club Invitational (ArborLinks Golf Course, Nebraska City, NE)

Creighton Women’s Golf at Chip-N Club Invitational (The Country Club of Lincoln, NE)

The men’s golf team starts its fall season with a trip to Nebraska City. Meanwhile, the women’s team looks to improve on its tie with Northern Iowa in a dual meet last week when the Jays travel to Lincoln for the Chip-N Club event.
