Today in Bluejay History (3/31)

March 31, 2006 — Creighton defeats #13 Wichita State in a nail-biter at Rosenblatt Stadium.

Trailing 1-0 and down to their last out in the bottom of the 9th inning, the Bluejays mounted a rally thanks to poor Wichita State defense. Hometown star Connor Gillaspie committed an error for the Shockers at third base, allowing Curtis Smith to score all the way from first base and tie the game.

Then, in the 11th inning, again down to their last out, the Jays mounted a game-winning rally. Chad Ogden recorded a two-out single, and he scored from first base after Justin Mosley’s sinking line drive got past WSU’s Blake Hurlbutt.

Creighton took two of three games from the #13 ranked Shockers on the weekend.
