#10 Cowgirls Put On Dog And Pony Show, Drop Jays 2-0

White & Blue Review: 2018-09-07 CUWSOC vs South Dakota St &emdash;

The Bluejay backline is thin with injuries. They could have used Jaylin Bosak against Oklahoma State (Streur / WBR) $CLICK TO BUY$

This wasn’t going to be much of a match from the outset, yet on a steamy homecoming night in Omaha, the Jays fell back on their heels and experienced a true rodeo from the rowdy Cowgirls of Oklahoma State.

After losing Haylee Blach last week against South Dakota and Jaylin Bosak against South Dakota State, the Jays were down two stellar players on their back line. It became pretty evident in their loss to UMKC that they’d suffer quite a bit, and then everyone looked at the schedule and saw a nationally ranked Okie State team coming up next.

Queue the alarms! Batten the hatches! It’s going to be a long night in Omaha!

It was.

Okie State kept possession for roughly 85% of the match. They doubled Creighton’s shots, corner kicks, and saved whatever the Jays managed to get on net.

The Cowgirls lassoed their first goal in the 26th minute on a little header by Grave Yochum. They scored their second on a penalty kick by Kim Rodriguez, featuring two assists on the play that looked truly masterful in its execution.

Whenever Creighton managed to get on the offensive end, it was Taryn Jakubowski trying to stir the pot and end the shutout as she nearly scored two goals and almost had a very nice assist to Katie Sullivan in front of the goal.

Alas, the sparse crowd on hand that bore witness to this match weren’t treated to a nail-biter but instead a measure in patience as they simply saw a better team show up and win tonight.

There’s not much else to say about this one. If Ross Paule needs to get some bionic legs built for Bosak and Blach then he better get a robotics firm on the horn ASAP, otherwise they’re going to limp into the conference slate with a gigantic disadvantage. They boot off that aforementioned conference slate against Xavier next Sunday at 1pm at Morrison Stadium with a 3-5 record.

Until then, heal. Heal like the wind.
