Heading into the weekend series against Illinois State, the Creighton baseball team was looking for some wins. On Friday night, Creighton’s game against Illinois State was postponed due to the weather. That set things up for a doubleheader on Saturday with a couple of interesting games.
The first game was a 15-inning epic with the Bluejays pulling out the win against the Redbirds 6-5. They had to come back from behind to tie the game in the 8th inning. No runs scored until the bottom of the 15th, when Michael Blatchford hit a single, Jake Peter walked and then Chance Ross hit a single scoring pinch runner Shane Liska to get the victory.
WBR’s Mike Spomer was the only photographer there to capture the exciting 15-inning game. Here are pictures from the win.
In the nightcap, the emotional victory in game one took its toll on the Bluejays as the dropped the game 7-2. The Redbirds jumped out to a 2-0 lead and didn’t look back. Again, here are photos from that game by WBR photographer Mike Spomer.
Sunday’s series finale was cancelled due to the weather.
